Open Position — Intern

Social Media Associate

Jewelry For Good is expanding its online presence using social media. Learn the challenges nonprofits face in growing online communities of friends, followers, and donors through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and more. You’ll have an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience raising awareness and optimizing an organization’s social networking presence. The primary duties of this intern will be to track, monitor, and report daily statistics for each site; design and post new community communications; manage relationships with existing community members through personal communications; monitor daily headlines and add relevant campaigns as necessary; and strategize and implement approaches to fully utilize the web to grow our online community and build our donor base. This is a half-time, unpaid internship position requiring 20 hours per week. Alternatively, the position may be shared by two (2) half-time interns, each working 10 hours per week. Academic credit as allowed. All work will be performed using Internet research. Access to a computer and the Internet required. The intern will work from home. An occasional meeting in the D.C. area is desirable but not required. Ability to work independently is essential. Reports to the executive director.

Required Qualifications:

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical and research skills
Strong worth ethic
Mature judgment
Ability to work independently

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with PhotoShop
Experience with graphic design
Experience with video editing

Google AdWords Grant Associate

Jewelry For Good is expanding its efforts to maximize benefits provided by its Google AdWords grant. This is a highly analytical and detailed position, with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience managing Internet advertising. The primary duties of this intern will be to create, track, monitor, and report daily pay-per-click campaign statistics; monitor daily headlines and add relevant campaigns as necessary; manage and optimize campaigns; analyze keyword strength; add and pause keywords to campaigns; analyze ad content strength; add and pause ads to campaigns; minimize bounce rate; strengthen traffic and page rank; and strategize and implement approaches to fully utilizing the AdWords grant. This is an unpaid position requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week. Academic credit as allowed. All work will be performed using Internet research. Access to a computer and the Internet required. The intern will work from home, with occasional meetings in the D.C. area. Ability to work independently is essential. Reports to the executive director.
